The Coastal Resource Management Project provides technical assistance and training to local governments and communities. Funded by U.S. AID, this seven-year program is implemented by the U.S. Department of Environment and Natural Resources in conjunction with other agencies, local governments, and non-governmental organizations. Based in Cebu City, the project started with six learning areas in the Philippines. It anticipates that 2000 km, or more than a tenth of the nation's 18,000 km coastline, will have been brought to sustainable resource use and management. Its Web site provides additional references on coastal management, coastal resources in the Philippines, management plans, environment profiles, and related legal and jurisdictional guidelines.
